Le Weekend: Food

After dropping our bags off at our weekend chateau, we headed out for a drink and/or a snack. We went to La Perle, but just about at the second I got to the bar to order, the lights came up and service was cut off. So much for that. So we headed back towards our apartment and stopped at the little wine bar nearby, Les Philosophes, for a glass of bio-wine (which was delicious) and some fromage.
The next morning, our first stop was at Pierre Hermé for some macarons. We tried a few different flavours, including jasmine and passionfruit/strawberry/lemon and they were all good.

After a few more stops (Le Pain Sucre for a bagel-dough-like pastry stuffed with spinach and bacon, and a green tea marshmallow; and a croissant from Le Julien), we settled down at Le Cafeothéque for our breakfast picnic feast:

The service at LeCafeotheque wasn't the best, but I can never really blame Parisians for that when we go there and don't speak their language.

Dinner on Saturday night was at Le Reveil du Xeme, a really cute bistro with very sweet staff. We had escargot and huitres to start, because we're weirdos, but both were yummy:
Oops. There are just the shells because we ate them all before remembering I wanted to take a picture.
We also had duck confit, which was really yummy, with tartiflette, a cheesy potatoey dish that is clearly terrible for you, but isn't terrible going down. As well as a pork and cabbage dish, which I thought was just okay. Chocolate mousse for dessert. Yum.

On Sunday, we had brunch at the Breizh café - a cute little cafe, with Japanese links, somehow, and a lot of ciders (their specialty) to try. We had: a galette with ham, artichokes and eggs

and a crepe with caramelised apples, creme chantilly and salted caramel sauce

Our final meal, which I forgot to photograph since we were in a semi-rush to get to the train station, was actually a meal for one that we shared - but it was plenty, and yummy! It was at Robert et Louise and we had escargot, steak and creme brûlée. We were in a semi-rush, but he had to entertain ourselves while waiting, right?? So we played some rummy...and apparently at some point dropped some cards and didn't pick them all up. But not to worry! Un monsieur who served us our food caught us in the nick of time as we were wrapping up for the cold and heading out to give us our missing 6 of diamonds! What a great way to wish us au revoir :)

PS we actually had one more Parisian meal after this, but took it as our lunch to work the next day - extending the weekend! It was a pie from Le Pain Sucre that was actually pretty yummy and some more/new flavors of macarons from Pierre Hermé)

PPS our airbnb host also recommended a favorite of his, a hole-in-the-wall called Le Felteu. Unfortunately, they were closed on Sundays, and we had other plans on Saturday, so it's on the list for next time-but if anyone else tries it first, let us know what you thought!
